Neiman Marcus taste on a Walmart Budget
If you are anything like me you love to wear the latest styles, but dont always have the cash to shell out top dollar for new frocks. Don’t worry. There are TONS of creative ways to wear new things that don’t cost a lot.
1. Shop your closet.
Yea, you read that right. Shop your closet. Ok, think of it this way. Usually most people ALWAYS wear the same outfit the exact same way every time. Try mixing up your favorite outfits with something else in your closet. Try unusual color combinations. If you have a funky style, use opposite colors like purple and yellow, blue and orange, green and pink.
Another thing I do on a regular basis is to wear my dresses as skirts or skirts as dresses (if they are long enough). That way you have more versatility . You can pair your “skirt/dress” with a different top for a completely different outfit. As opposed to wearing the same dress the same way every time. One more trick I use to mix it up is to pair a mini dress with a cute top half with a skirt and I usually belt it to keep it all in place. It may sound crazy, but its so cute!Think of different ways to manipulate your clothes, maybe rolling up the sleeves, pinning a neckline, anything you can think of that makes your regular shirt, skirt, dress, etc. look different
2. Shop discount
This is an obvious one, but shopping at discount stores and outlet malls gets you a lot more bang for your buck. You just have to be a little more patient and have a creative eye to spot fashion finds. Some places I ussually go to are Nordstrom Rack, Ross, TJ Maxx, Buffalo Exchange, Target, Walmart ( yea they have cute stuff too), the salvation army, goodwill, etc.
3. Shop Vintage
There are some GREAT vinage stores here in Dallas you can get unusual things at much better prices than you would find at the mall. Some of my favortie stores are Lula B’s, Ditto, Zolas, Dolly Python, Pandemonium. I have another post coming soon with a complete list and review of Dallas vintage stores and the great things you can find there. **I know you’re on the edge of your seat with anticipation **
You can create some amzaing things with a few bucks, a sewing needle and thread and a little inspiration. One of my FAV DYI sites is http://psimadethis.com they have everything from clothes, to jewelry to furniture.
How cute is that?
The point I’m trying to make is you can look like you spent a ton of $$ on new clothes with a little imagination and creative outside of the box thinking.
