Wedding Weekend and Trends

Well since this is the weekend for celebrity weddings I decided to do a post on wedding dress trends. Here are the three weddings that took place this weekend.

Wedding #1 Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky

This weekend Chelsea said i do to Marc at Astor Courts Estate in a stunning Vera Wang gown.

Wedding #2 Alicia Keys and Swizz Beats

They got married Saturday in Corsica, Italy. Alicia wore a Grecian Vera Wang Gown custom tailored to fit her baby bump and a jeweled head dress .

Wedding #3 Tiny and TI

The couple wed  Saturday and Tiny wore an interesting Valentino gown. I’m not a big fan of her dress but she looks nice none the less.

She also changed into a second gown for the reception. All I can say is WOW and not a good wow

Here are a few of my favorite wedding dress trends from the 2011 lines.

Trend #1 Traces of Black.

This trend is no longer for “nontraditional brides”. Bits of black showed up on numerous runways like this one by Modern Trousseau.

Trend #2 Flower Power

It seems designers were especially inspired by the beauty of flowers because they literally showed up on their dresses this year. The simple yet chic dress pictured below is by Monique Lhuillier.

(as you can see I jacked this pic from Wedding Insprirasi.com)

The dress pictured below is one of my fav’s from Monique Lhuillier’s line. To me, the bottom of this looks like abstract flowers.

Trend #3 Tarzan Chic

The one shouldered trend is nothing new, but it was popping up frequently like in this dress by Carolina Herrera.

Trend #4 Couture cover ups

Although most brides want to (tastefully) show it off on their wedding day. Some brides are more traditional and opt to wear coverups especially if they are having a very traditional ceremony. This Monique Lhuillier dress has a very simple but high fashion way to be a bit more demure on your wedding day.

Hopefully this post gave some of you brides to be some wedding day dress ideas and the rest of us some ideas to tuck away for the future.
