20 lipstick shades for $5
I’m sure the title caught your eye. But, no seriously, I’m going to tell you the easiest/best way to try lipstick shades without spending a fortune! All you do is take your existing lip sticks, most women have a shade of :
The next step is eye shadow. The best tool is a multi -eyeshadow color palate like this one.
If you don’t have anything like this, don’t fret, you can use what you have or you can go to the drug store and get a few of the shades that are closest to the lipstick color you want to try. Make sure they are high pigment shades like Loreal Hip or something similar. Next, pick the shade you want to try. Say, you want to try a purple lip. Start with the darkest color lipstick or lip gloss you have, which would probably be a red. Then, add a dab or purple eyeshadow to your lips until you achieve your desired color. And poof! purple lipstick!
If you want a lighter shade start with a lighter lipstick or lip gloss base and add your desired shade of eyeshadow until you achieve it your lip stick shade. Don’t be afraid to mix colors. Need it to be a little darker? Add some middle shade grey or brown . Need it to be lighter? Add the same color eyeshadow a few shades lighter than the one you just put on your lips.
The perfect nude lip
To get the perfect nude lip without searching every brand out there, apply some clear lip gloss then add your concealer or foundation until you get the right shade. If it’s a little too “flesh tone ” for you add a touch of pink to lighten it up and viola! The perfect nude lip without buying the lip color!
This is a little trick I learned from my home girl Crystal while we were roommates in college. This is when we loved fashion, hair and makeup, but couldn’t afford to buy a lot of things. Ahh the broke days… I applied her nude lip technique to any color I wanted to try and have been doing it ever since.
This works best for lip stick shades you want to try. If one of these becomes a staple, then it might be time to search and purchase that specific shade for easy reapplication while you are out and about. Any questions? Class dismissed…
